Tennessee man sentenced for arson and attempted Hezbollah support

Published October 21, 2026 · Sentencing occurred October 20

The court outcome

Regan Darby Prater, 28, was sentenced to 210 months in prison—17 years and six months—plus three years of supervised release and

,289,000 in restitution, DOJ announced on October 21. He pleaded guilty in April to arson and attempting to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organisation.

The admitted conduct

DOJ says Prater admitted destroying a building at Tennessee’s Highlander Center, a nonprofit research and education organisation, motivated by white-supremacist ideology and hostility to its educational and civil-rights associations.

He also admitted attempting to provide information to someone he believed was associated with Hezbollah. That account establishes attempted support; it should not be read as proof that the recipient was a Hezbollah representative or that the information was authentic.

Why it matters

The sentencing addresses both ideologically motivated violence against a domestic institution and attempted support to a designated foreign terrorist organisation. It follows a guilty plea, rather than an unresolved charging allegation.
